Goodyear Tires - A Retrospective

Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, the global giant in the manufacture of tires and rubber, "13" was a lucky number. Frank Seiberling, an American inventor, founded the company in 1898. The original manufacturing plant was built in Akron, Ohio, and had only 13 employees who played a major role in making the company's first products: transport and bicycle tires, rubber horseshoe pads, and tabs poker.

There has never been any connection between Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and Charles Goodyear, inventor of vulcanized rubber in 1839. However, the decision was made by Mr. Seiberling to commemorate Mr Goodyear and the name of the company after his profound contribution to the rubber and automotive industries.

It was not until 1901 that Goodyear got his biggest break, which was the year that Goodyear has agreed to supply racing tires to an up-and-coming race car known as the Ford Motor Company. That was the year that Henry Ford, renowned car designer, put Goodyear tires on your car revolutionary Model T. And the rest as they say, is history. In 1909 Goodyear aircraft tires produced, which made the Goodyear brand recognized around the world.

In 1926, Goodyear has risen to the stature of the world's largest manufacturer of rubber. At that time, everyone in the automotive industry is considered Goodyear brand better and more efficient racing tire available. Goodyear continued to gain in popularity, leading to expansion beyond the company and its reputation.

Goodyear became a multinational corporation, and then diversified into other business areas. The company opened a nuclear processing plant in Ohio in 1956. In early 1970, Goodyear Aerospace Corporation was formed and later became the Goodyear Aircraft Company, which specialized in designing and manufacturing various types of aircraft including the famous space shuttle. Like any company that looks healthy expansion, Goodyear spent an enormous amount of time and money for taking charge of the original facility in Akron as a research and technical design for the company.

For decades, Goodyear has been responsible for a large number of inventions and innovations satisfactory. Goodyear is now a truly global conglomerate, which has deepened in a wide range of companies very profitable and meaningful.

Today, Goodyear is the third largest tire maker, Michelin and Bridgestone that occupy the top two spots. No wonder that when people are looking for auto tires
