Americans have a reputation for being big eaters for nothing. That said, their reputation as an obese nation is very unfair. They love their food, especially the meal is breakfast.
In America you can have such variety of breakfast you're still a choice. Cooked breakfast cereal to the will of Pop Tarts and pancakes, there really is something for everyone.
Here we have a look at some of the most popular and delicious meals the United States has to offer.
Let's start with Pop Tarts. If you do not know, Pop Tarts toaster pastries are a wide range of tastes. Everything you do is pop them in the toaster for a few minutes and you have a warm, sweet, tasty breakfast.
Pop Tarts in America come in 30 - yes 30! Different flavors, both matte and unfrosted. These include, as you'd expect, apples, blueberries and strawberries and some you might not expect, like chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies and cream!
If that does not sound like your kind of thing, instead consider pancakes. There are a variety of pancake mixes available to prepare your breakfast faster and easier and it becomes a matter of toppings. You could use fruit such as strawberries and blueberries, maple syrup is a very popular addition, like crispy bacon and powdered sugar.
If you like a person in the morning toast, jam it is a good choice, or jelly as the Americans refer to it. Smucker is a very popular brand and comes in a variety of flavors including blueberry and grape. For a true American taste Smucker Goober Goober Grape and Strawberry are normal jelly, but peanut butter is added to the mix, a real boost to energy levels in the morning!
Different grains are another good option. Most people have heard of Lucky Charms, which is the most popular grain in the United States, but a little branch and try Kellogg's Froot Loops, Cocoa Pebbles, Reeses Puffs and Trix Fruitalicious. There are many, many more.
Of course, the Americans prefer a hot breakfast and the British are. Only in America they are doing something else. Yes, bacon and eggs is a common, but some like steak and eggs for breakfast, often with grits, hash browns, home fries or baked potatoes.
Grits are most popular in the south of the country, such as fried chicken and 'cookies' with white gravy!
In the winter months, as in the United Kingdom, oatmeal is very popular and the Americans have their own spin on that. You can use plain oatmeal and flavor anyway you want, of course, but to save time, there is peaches and cream, maple and brown sugar and many other flavored instant oatmeal treats to try.
Whatever your breakfast tastes, America has something to offer. For the author, pancakes with bacon, maple syrup and a little castor sugar is a personal favorite, but if in a hurry Pop Tarts are a secondary choice.
